Lee Trundle came off the bench to rescue a deserved point for the Swans in their 1-1 draw against Cheltenham Town at Vetch Field.

Trundle reacted quickly to a free-kick form Andy Robinson to fire into the net after it had looked as though it would be yet another disappointing home display by Swansea.

The Robins had taken the lead in the 25th minute with a ferocious strike from Grant McCann but, despite doing all the attacking, it was only when last year's leading scorer Trundle arrived on the scene that the swans looked like getting something from the game.

Swansea boss Kenny Jackett brought back Stuart Jones in place of Kevin Austin for the only change from the side beaten at Macclesfield which meant still no place in the squad for club skipper Roberto Martinez.

It was 17 minutes before either goalkeeper was troubled when Alan Tate, playing in an unaccustomed right-back role, sent in a weak shot that Robins keeper Shane Higgs easily gathered.

Three minutes later busy midfielder Robinson worked his way into the area but his shot rebounded of a Cheltenham defender for a fruitless corner.

The visitors took the lead with their first shot on target when Tate's poor ball out of defence reached McCann who let fly from fully 25 yards.

Just before the interval veteran striker Kevin Nugent hit the crossbar with Higgs beaten and from Robinson's corner Paul Connor rose high to head against the post but the ball was scrambled away by a relieved defence.

Trundle and Brad Maylett came on in the 55th minute and the change sparked the Swans into action.

Trundle sent Maylett away and his cross brought panic to the Robins defence before the ball was hacked clear.

After Trundle's equaliser Nugent had the ball in the net but referee Paul Armstrong disallowed the strike for a foul on the keeper.

A draw was the least the Swans deserved but for that they can thank the return of Trundle.
