About 15,000 Cheltenham fans made the trip down to Cardiff to the Millennium Stadium to see the Robins gain promotion again.

Cheltenham's first goal came from Martin Devaney with a closer

ange shot, from a wide angle just reached the back of the net on 27 minutes.

However before all the Cheltenham fans could sit down again, the game had kicked off again for Paul Hall to score for Rushden with 14 seconds of the restart, after he was able to put the ball over Cheltenham keeper Steve Book's head into the empty net.

At the half time break it was 1-1.

Going into the second half Cheltenham were able to score again within a couple of minutes, this time Julian Alsop was able to poke the ball in for close range.

Cheltenham then scored again mid way through the second half to book themselves a place in division 2 after Neil Grayson shot hit the cross bar, and landed in the path of John Finnigan who made sure he scored.

Rushden had a good chance at the end, but failed to score.
