Yates stays cool after off-day

Billy McKay gave the Cobblers a ninth-minute lead with a close-range header after Andy Holt had stayed cool pick him out with a precise cross.

However, Wes Thomas out-paced Ben Tozer to race onto a long punt three minutes after the break before slipping the ball past Chris Dunn in the home goal to claim a point for the Robins.

Yates said: "We weren't our usual selves, especially not in the first half. We have been outstanding in a couple of matches lately against Macclesfield and Southend on Monday, where we took the three points, but in the first half here it just didn't happen.

"I am not going to hammer them as my players have been fantastic. We have the smallest squad in this division and have to work extremely hard before our quality comes out. I asked for more effort in the second half which is what we got and in the end I though we were well worth a point."

He added: "I am still on the lookout for players but we have Josh Low back next week after a few weeks out with injury and that will help us."
