Yates did not mince his words after Saturday`s 3-0 home defeat to struggling Hereford left Town six points off the play-off places and with almost all of their rivals boasting games in hand.
"I have to look at myself and the players because there were a lot of disappointing things," he said, with Town now winless in five.
"We were out-worked and out-played and I don't expect that. Our recent performances have been excellent, but they (Hereford) have done a good job on us. We didn't work hard enough and I don't think any players can come out of it with any credit and neither do.
"We'll do everything possible now and that will include getting one or two in. I am waiting for an answer and it might be the right thing to do so the players know in no uncertain terms how unhappy we are with the performance."
