Yates said: "I thought it was a penalty full stop. Whether it's a coming together of players or not, he's taken him out.
"I think we were probably the better team and had chances to go and win it, particularly second half.
"I needed them to perform and I think they did. We got caught for the goal but that happens with younger players and in the end we had enough energy and spirit to keep going forward.
"We forced them to change their formation and that has to be a compliment to the players out there."
