Manager Mark Yates revealed earlier this week he was close to strengthening his promotion-chasing squad and he looks to have succeeded, although no-one will be signing on the dotted line before Friday.
"There will hopefully be two new faces in the squad for the weekend. Nothing concrete will happen today (Thursday) but something will be happening tomorrow definitely," he told Town's official website.
"Paul Godfrey (secretary) is in a Football League meeting today so one will be done on Friday and hopefully another ready for Saturday.
"We could have easily taken someone over the last few weeks but I didn't want just anyone to come here and we have to make sure it`s the right thing for the club.
"The player is one of the main ones we have been chasing and it will benefit the team."
