But Yates defended his player, saying: "Justin lifted his head slightly, but I don't have a problem with people missing chances.
The Robins had to battle hard for a point after Ashley Eastham's 56th-minute dismissal for a second bookable offence.
"The team showed great character," added Yates. "There were a lot of towering performances. Every player has done a job for Cheltenham Town.
"I would not have taken a point at the start but I would when Ashley got sent off. With 35 minutes to play it's a good point. Now we want to go on a run. We want to turn draws into wins and go on a run."
