Ward confirms minimal transfer activity this summer

John Ward has confirmed that a large boost to the squad will not happen this summer. Citing the lack of funds to pay high wages, let alone transfer fees, Ward has said that any more than two new players is unlikely.

Ward has suggested on Teamtalk.com that the squad was built up last summer, although this writer would consider that a somewhat dubious claim given the number of players signed on shorter term contracts last summer who have already been shown the door this year.

As already reported, Matthew Tipton will not be one of the new faces, but many fans will be hoping a forward will be one of the new players, on loan if necessary. Reports that Craig Bellamy has been talking to the directors are entirely fabricated.
