Thomas keeping options open

The club`s 19-goal leading scorer arrived on a one-year deal from Dagenham last summer but, despite the best efforts of Town to extend Thomas`s contract, it is no secret the Londoner is keen to be closer to his partner as she expects their first child in the capital.

Cheltenham manager Mark Yates told the club`s official website: "We are speaking to one or two players about their contracts but things will happen over the next couple of weeks.

"Wesley Thomas wants to keep his options open which he is entitled to do, but I would like to stress the club has made every effort to make him sign."

Yates has also stressed his desire to see on-loan Portsmouth midfielder Marlon Pack remain at Whaddon Road, adding: "I`ve been speaking to Marlon over the past couple of weeks as well and he`s just changed his representatives so hopefully we can get something done."

The Robins have faltered badly after a promising first half to the season, and Yates added: "There are lessons to be learnt by all of us and we have to make sure we have a couple more bodies in next season because I believe that has been a factor this season."
