Robins chairman blasts postponement

It was the third time of late the Robins have been forced to postpone a home Saturday match, losing crucial matchday revenue. And the outcome has left Baker more than annoyed.

"I think the decision was poor and premature and I am very angry," he told the Gloucestershire Echo. "At 1pm, all the management staff felt the pitch was fine and it was in the sun with two more hours left until kick-off.

"Words fail me, I am so cross and we will be looking into what can be done about it."

He added: "As soon as I heard it was off I drove to the ground, but I just missed him (Stroud) and it's a good job I did really. He had made his mind up and was not prepared to compromise. Things are tight anyway, but we have missed out on £60-65,000 in income, which is a big hit for any business."
