NO RETURN FOR NAYLOR

The former Crewe Alexandra and Port Vale striker, who was released by Cheltenham at the end of last season after becoming a fan's favourite, had been negotiating a new contract with the club, and was prepared to take a huge drop in salary just to stay at the club.
Robins boss Bobby Gould said that Naylor had told him what figure he was prepared to drop to, but the board had told him that they 'could not get anywhere near it'.
Gould wants to bring in at least one striker to replace Naylor and released Julian Alsop, who has joined Oxford United. Former Man City striker Robert Taylor, and ex- Tottenham striker Peter Beadle, released by Bristol City, have been training with the club, and are expected to feature in the friendly against Sheffield United. Gould has also been talking to West Brom legend Bob Taylor, who has just had a major knee operation.
