Goal glut leaves Yates bewildered

The Robins looked dead and buried at 4-2 down but Michael Pook scored a stunning hat-trick in the final six minutes to help steal all three points. Yates was left bewildered by the sharing of 11 goals, however he was delighted with the battling qualities his players displayed.

"My head is all over the place, but I can't fault the lads for their spirit," he said. "There are things I'm not happy about from our performance but the bottom line is that we got three points and we've scored some goals, which we've struggled with.

"We've shown tremendous spirit and we've managed to dig ourselves out of a hole that we created for ourselves in the first half. We had a game plan but that went out of the window after about 90 seconds when Burton took the lead.

"But the only time we led the game was in injury time, so I can't fault the lads for the way they fought back when you consider we were two goals behind on three occasions."

Burton boss Paul Peschisolido added: "Defensively we were just a shambles. We've scored five goals but I find it very difficult to find any positives because we've blown three points. I don't think I've seen a game like it in my career."
