Jerry Gill has told the Gloucestershire Echo that he believes the current squad is capable of gaining promotion. He has been encouraged by what he has seen in the pre-season build up, and feels that the younger players are phyiscally and mentally stronger than during the last term.

He has also expressed his belief that there are more goals in the team this season than last. In a show of humility he said of Steve Guinan: "His link-up play is excellent and it wasn't his fault that the rest of us were not creating chances for him last season."

Gill did however express many people's feeling that a new striker would be an even greater boost for the confidence of those at the club.
