Duff Appeal Turned Down

Last updated : 24 September 2003 By Martin Holmes
Duff was sent off in the 89th minute during the 0-0 draw with Oxford United at Whaddon Road, following a challenge on Oxford's Dean Whitehead. Referee Andy Hall sent Duff off for violent conduct, as he thought that an arm had been raised, but this was later changed to seriuos foul play.

Hall's report described Duff's challenge as 'reckless and using excessive force'. The wording was disputed by the club, but the FA sided with the referee's description of the event after viewing a video of the incident.

The suspension means Duff will miss the game at Scunthorpe on September 30th, the home match against Yeovil on October 4th, and the trip to Boston on October 11th.
